The game is called golf, normally played with 8 cards. The object of the game is to match all your cards by paring them all up before going out. That is how the game original started for us, but in our quest to make the game more interesting, we may have modified it just a little bit. We no longer play with 8 cards, instead we play with 18 cards since golf has 18 holes. The object of the game has not changed, you still pair up the card except we get to do flippies, yes flippies. A flippy is when you take a card stab it in place of another card to reveal what that card is. if the flipped over card matches another card in your had you become a flipper and you get to play that card next to the card it matched and hope the next flip is a match. If the next card matches, you keep on flipping until you are all flipped out you have to see it to believe it.
These are the friends that the Game is played with. We make memories sharing stories, talking about current events. We get silly, have coffee, go to breakfast and or lunch most of the time. We almost don't care who wins no matter how much smack talk there is before the game. The best part is just being together no matter the outcome. The time spent with good friends is priceless.
Don't let the look fool you, he knows how to play the game.
Favorite Card: Six's or so we keep telling him.
Bruce has an uncanny ability to call out a number and then someone will flip that number.. Let's just say that we all tell him to stop saying numbers because it has happened so many times it's just not funny anymore. He always put an Ace in his Ace hole and goes out first more often than not.
She may look innocent, but She wins way more than she lets on.
Favorite Card: The Ace's
Judy plays the innocent little lady routine all the time. She will say, I had no idea that I was winning. You gotta keep an eye on her when she is playing a king or a joker, she will try and keep them rather than give them up. She is a sly one this little lady. She is always a pleasure to play with.
Just when you think you won the round, She flips all the right cards.
Favorite Card: Ace's
We have a term called the Sylvia Flip, this occurs at the end of the game when someone goes out and she have to flip over her remaining cards. Just when you think you will get her with lots of points, she flips them all over only to have them all match. Been on that bad end of that deal many times.
They call me The Shark, but I am not even close, boy do I have them fooled.
Favorite Card: Queen's, its a love hate relationship.
They call me the shark because I can deal fast and put some fancy moves on the cards now and again. I have led more games than I can remember right up until the last 3 rounds. For some reason the last 3 rounds I usually get stuck and get lots of point only to loose the lead.
We have stuff to say sometimes and sometimes we just need to let it out. This Players Blog is my avenue to share what goes on during our time together. I hope that it will be entertaining, but it could just be an attempt to help us all remember what we even did or if we even got together at all.
We met this morning at Mel's Diner for breakfast, trying to get ourselves some energy for the Golf we were getting ready to play. With the Cards cut and the deal done, the game was afoot. Sylva came out strong in the first 5 round letting us know she meant business. Sylvia was in the lead heading
I have been compiling data from the games we have played, just to see how it all stacks up. I have all the dates along with each persons score and who won the game. Its kinda fun to see if someone is going to end up with the highest score or beat a record for the lowest score. its just fun to watch how it all progresses over time.
